Tuesday Theme: Geometric Wedding

With so many awesome wedding decorations and products out on the market, how do you choose?! Picking a theme can help nail down some of those choices, but sometimes just picking a theme can be a daunting task. Don't worry, your theme doesn't have to be inspired by where you two met, or something you have in common, sometimes it can just be a mood or pattern that you like. Its really just a benefit to help you decide which dresses, jewelry, invitations, etc to pick in a world of infinite choices.

Welcome to a new feature on the blog where we showcase wedding themes on our blog that (we hope!) will inspire you. Let's start with one of my favorite wedding themes: Geometric Wedding! So adaptable and recognizable, fun, sophisticated and sets a great background for pictures!

Detroit Indie Wedding Show March 8

Since February 2013, the Indie Detroit Wedding Ring has been a growing online resource for couples wanting a wedding rooted in the values of handmade goods. Just under a year after their launch, IDWR is proud to announce they will be presenting a bridal show that will cater to those handmade brides/grooms in search of local artists to contribute to their wedding.

Saturday, March 8, the Detroit Indie Wedding Show will debut at the Rust Belt Marketplace in Ferndale from 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Vendors from the IDWR will be on hand to book appointments, show work samples and give couples countless ideas and endless inspiration for their upcoming weddings.

What is an Indie Wedding Vendor?

(To see more from this wedding, visit Etsy Real Weddings)

With so many amazing wedding vendors in the area how do know if they are an indie wedding vendor or not? Thats a good question and one that is easier to show rather than tell, but we'll try anyway! A good start is to imagine vendors you would find at the DUCF, and then add a wedding filter and voila! Indie wedding vendor. Of course, if you want to be text book about it, here are a few defining characteristics:
  • Small boutique, independently owned by the person making the product
  • Produces high-quality, handcrafted items that can be customized to make unique keepsakes for weddings
  • Exhibits a DIY spirit and has a modern wedding design esthetic
  • Supports the local DIY community

We invite you to follow our blog or join our facebook page for visual definitions for what an indie wedding vendor is. If you consider yourself an indie wedding vendor and would like to join our network, fill out our app!

Thats our definition, what do you think?
